Hailing from a family of literary enthusiasts, Krishna was immersed in a world of books and knowledge from an early age. His late father, noted teacher and author C. Prabhakaran, and mother, KC Bharathi, nurtured his curiosity and instilled in him a deep appreciation for the power of words. It was within this environment that Krishna’s aspirations took root, fueled by a desire to make a difference through the media. Krishna was educated at the prestigious Sainik School, which also instilled in him a fierce independent nature and resilience.
As he blossomed into a young man, Krishna seized an opportunity, while in college, to work as a news reader for All India Radio Air Akashvani in Kozikode. His resonating voice captured the attention of listeners, marking the beginning of his journey in the media realm. His natural gift for communication, combined with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, propelled him forward.
However, Krishna’s ambitions extended beyond his hometown. With a steadfast determination to explore new horizons, he set his sights on the United States, a land of boundless possibilities. Enrolling at Southern Illinois University, he pursued a Master of Science degree, honing his skills and deepening his understanding of the industry. Little did he know that his journey would eventually lead him to the world of management consulting, where his expertise and unique perspectives would make a profound impact.
Unsatisfied with resting on his laurels, Krishna’s quest for knowledge led him to the prestigious Pennsylvania State University, where he pursued a Ph.D. in the field of telecommunications. His academic and research focus centered around the economic and financial implications of privatizing government owned telecommunications infrastructures around the world. He authored one of the earliest dissertations on global telecommunications deregulation. After securing his Ph.D., Krishna served on the faculty at The Pennsylvania State University. He was also recognized as an Outstanding Researcher in the field of global telecommunications policy by the US government. This remarkable achievement solidified his expertise and paved the way for a future marked by success and recognition.
In the land of opportunity, Krishna’s talents flourished. He ventured into leadership roles within renowned companies and consultancies such as Bell Communications Research, Deloitte and PwC, leaving an indelible mark with his insightful contributions and strategic guidance. Today, he serves as Senior Director at PwC in New York leading digital transformation initiatives for the Mergers and Acquisitions practice. Yet, his heart also remains steadfastly devoted to pursuing his passion for broadcast journalism.
It was in 2005 that Krishna’s journey intersected with Asianet News, a prominent television network based in Kerala, India. As a news anchor in their popular weekly round-up program, his resonating voice captivated viewers’ hearts. His captivating delivery and comprehensive coverage on a diverse range of topics endeared him to audiences far and wide. Since then, Krishna has become the face of US news for Keralite audiences across the world.
Today he serves as the North American Head of Asianet News, the preeminent news channel. He has anchored over 1000 television episodes, provided over 3000 breaking news reports, and has covered four US presidential elections, Indian PM’s visits to the United States, UN General Assembly and numerous other seminal events. He has the rare honor of being accredited by the United Nations, US State Department, and most recently the International Cricket Council that enabled him to cover the recent World Test Championship Final in London.
Krishna’s exceptional work in broadcast journalism garnered accolades and recognition. With over 25 awards to his name, he became a trailblazer in diaspora journalism, forging new paths and opening doors for others to follow. His reports resonated with audiences, offering unique perspectives and bridging gaps in understanding.
Krishna’s unique story is his success in effectively managing a busy corporate life as a senior management consulting executive and as a reputed broadcast journalist concurrently — and excelling in both. It is a remarkable case study of dedication, passion, and commitment.
Beyond his professional achievements, Krishna’s humility and warmth endeared him to colleagues and viewers alike. Despite his towering success, he remained grounded and approachable, always extending a helping hand and sharing his wisdom with those around him. Today, Krishna resides near Princeton, New Jersey, with his beloved family. His wife, Vidya Kishore, holds the esteemed position of Global Head of HR for Johnson & Johnson Global Services, a testament to the couple’s unwavering commitment to excellence. Together, they have raised a remarkable daughter, Sangeeta, who is poised to embark on her own journey, pursuing a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) program at Boston College Law School.
