Toronto: Dance is something that illuminates imaginations and embraces the depths of our souls. D-squad- Ontario Dance Club came into action by four passionate dance lovers and besties –Anbin Sabu, Krishna Kumar, Anjana Raj and Ann Mary Jofal from Kitchener. These aspiring dancers did their own choreography and began to post their creations on Instagram in 2020 during the pandemic.

The quartet specialized in Dance genres like Hip Hop, Classical, Contemporary and Dappankuthu. These creative four posted their dance videos whenever they found time. Their consistency in posting new videos paid off one day. One fine day, they received an invite from the Canadian Media Club to showcase an exciting flash mob sequence for the launch of the blockbuster Movie Kurup. The highly talented D-squad grabbed the opportunity and put on a great show. The D-squad made their next appearance on Madhur Kinave’s Youtube album. To watch this wonderful video, that stole hearts and cased 100K Views and went Viral: https://www.instagram.com/p/CXKtzVkj7nC/

It was during this time D-Squad went through a major transition, as two other flavoured dancers – Arun Sreekumar & Tom Thomas joined the troop, now D-squad became a 6 member Dance Company. The debutants who joined the group were both seasoned classical dancers. They were invited by the Canadian Media Club again to perform on Dec 16th-2021. At this show, these pro-dancers performed a mix of dance styles and as an aftermath of the event 3 other trained dancers – Stalon Lawrence, Leander George and Sreeraj Anilkumar joined the D-squad.

Post this event, there was no looking back for the D-squad. The dance pros have performed in 5-7 programs progressively and now are invited to perform by the Toronto Malayalee Samajam Members for all their main celebrations like Christmas and New year bash at Scarborough regularly. Now the Dance group has grown into a team of 9 members – the team has deputed 2 coordinators to take care of their branding and operations, so along with Rahul Ramesh and Krishna P V, they are a club of 11 members. Currently, these gifted Dancers are serving to delight their audience in the Greater Toronto Area, London, Kitchener among the Malayalees and other communities.

They aspire and plan to expand their Dance club to the next level and are on the verge of laying a blueprint to start off a fully-functional Dance Academy. As the popular quote about dance goes like “Dance came from people and that it should always be returned to the people” this team of energetic and creative dancers want to give back to society, all their skills, hard work and talents through their moves, to delight the viewers.
