From the classroom to the Federal MP campaign, Pranay Gunti’s journey is a story of dedication, community service, and leadership. Since moving to Canada in 2014, Pranay has become a vital part of the Durham region, not just as a software professional working for leading financial institutions but as a devoted community leader and family man with two young children.
Serving the community
Pranay‘s commitment to serving his community is evident through his active involvement in various municipal committees in the City of Clarington. From being a member of the Diversity Advisory Committee to playing a crucial role in the Durham Region Transit Regional Advisory Committee, Pranay has been instrumental in advocating for diversity, better transit, and standing against discrimination.
Passion
His passion for serving the community extends beyond these roles, as seen in his efforts to introduce Telugu and Hindi language classes in Bowmanville/Clarington, advocating for their inclusion in the International and Indigenous Languages Elementary (IILE) Program.
Founding and presiding over the Cultural Association of Clarington, Pranay has led numerous community-focused initiatives, including free workshops on parenthood and yoga, cultural celebrations for Ugadi, Navratri, and Ganesh Mahotsav, These initiatives not only promote cultural understanding and inclusivity but also strengthen the bonds within the community.
Significant step
In 2022, Pranay took a significant step in his public service journey by running for the position of an English School Board Trustee for the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, further demonstrating his commitment to educational excellence and community representation.
Pranay’s journey takes on even greater significance as he steps forward as an independent candidate in the Federal by-election for the riding of Durham, Ontario. Free from the constraints of party agendas, Pranay represents a new kind of leadership—one rooted in the needs and aspirations of the people he aims to serve. As an independent MP, Pranay would bring a dedicated voice to the Commons, focusing solely on policies that benefit Durham and its diverse community, including the vibrant South Indian population.

If elected as MP, Pranay will be a great asset to the South Indian community, representing their interests and voices at the federal level. His campaign is more than just political aspiration. It embodies the hopes and dreams of a community striving for better representation and inclusivity.
