Founded in 2018 by twin brothers Linto and Lijo Mathew, DDA emerged as a beacon of artistic expression and community celebration. Hailing from Libya and nurtured in the culturally rich city of Trivandrum, Kerala, the Mathew brothers discovered their profound love for dance at a young age. Inspired by the enchanting performances they witnessed on television dance programs and immersed in the vibrant melodies of cinema songs, they embarked on a journey of self-discovery and relentless self-improvement.
Throughout their college years, Linto and Lijo seized every opportunity to showcase their electrifying talent, earning admiration and applause. However, their lives took an exhilarating turn when they moved to Muscat for work, where they encountered the remarkable DDA Muscat team. Guided by these skilled mentors, the brothers’ dancing prowess soared to new heights, and they were even blessed with the opportunity to share the stage with renowned Bollywood celebrities like Dia Mirza, Aarti Chabria, Mouni Roy and so on. This transformative experience solidified their resolve to create something extraordinary.
In 2017, Lijo’s adventurous spirit led him to the captivating landscapes of Canada, followed shortly after by Linto. United by their unwavering dedication to nurturing and inspiring their community, the Mathew brothers laid the foundation of DDA Canada. With the unyielding support of their sister, Nisha Mathew, who had already embraced Canada as her home, as well as her husband Ajit Easo Joseph and their two radiant daughters, Tazia and Tazlin, Linto and Lijo embarked on their exhilarating Canadian chapter.
From humble beginnings, DDA Canada grew into a thriving institution, attracting an ever-expanding dance family. Their infectious passion and unparalleled commitment ignited a flame within aspiring dancers, molding them into mesmerizing performers. In just five years, DDA Canada has taught and nurtured over 265 students, showcasing their exceptional talents in 75 unforgettable events.
Beyond the dance studio, DDA Canada’s impact extended to choreography for events and fashion shows. Their scintillating performances enthralled audiences at award shows, music festivals, weddings, corporate gatherings, and numerous celebrations. No stage was too grand, no event too small for these gifted artists.
From the iconic Nathan Philip Square in Toronto to the vibrant Mississauga Celebration Square, the picturesque Victoria Park in London, and the majestic Oakes Centre in Niagara Falls, DDA Canada left an indelible mark on the hearts of spectators, transcending cultural boundaries through the universal language of dance.
As DDA Canada approaches its momentous fifth anniversary this year, anticipation surges for the grand celebration that awaits. They plan to host a mega event – DDA LA FEST, the talent showcase by its students, which be held on 25th November at Bethany Community Church (Niagara). Eager fans and dedicated followers anticipate the unveiling of the exhilarating programs and awe-inspiring venues, poised to witness a spectacle that will etch itself into their memories forever.
Recently, DDA Canada was bestowed with the prestigious People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Bollywood Dance Team” by the Indo-Canadian Art Council. This recognition, presented by the renowned Bollywood singer Kailash Kher, affirms DDA Canada’s status as a true powerhouse in the industry.
Behind the scenes, Linto and Lijo Mathew’s wives, Niva Mariam George and Sonia Rachel Chacko, stand as pillars of strength, providing unwavering support and guidance. Balancing full-time roles in the food industry as a Category Manager and Supply Chain Head, respectively, the Mathew brothers demonstrate that dedication and commitment can turn dreams into reality.
