Journey
Jebin Benny’s journey is a testament to the power of passion and perseverance. Born and raised in Pala, Kottayam, Kerala, Jebin hails from the renowned Vettukattil family, also known as Illath, known for its illustrious history spanning over 400 years. His close friends affectionately refer to him as “Palakkaran,” reflecting his deep connection and unwavering loyalty to his hometown of Pala.
Early years
Jebin was always drawn to sports, arts, and the world of short films. His early years were marked by active participation in school sports teams and artistic endeavors, including short film making, fueled by a deep-seated passion for creativity.
Education
After completing his higher secondary education at St. Vincent School and earning a BBA degree from Mar Augusthinose College, Ramapuram, Jebin set his sights on new horizons.
In 2015, Jebin made the bold decision to pursue higher studies in Canada, drawn by the allure of new opportunities and experiences. With unwavering support from his family, he pursued a diploma in Marketing Management and Professional Sales at Lambton College in Toronto.
Career
Following his studies, Jebin gained valuable experience working in the banking and telecommunications sectors before ultimately relocating to Halifax in 2022 in search of broader career prospects.
Creative Calling
In Canada, Jebin found his creative calling, collaborating with like-minded individuals on various projects. His involvement in a music album produced and directed by Magic Mist marked a significant milestone, garnering widespread acclaim on YouTube as one of the first Malayalam music albums in Canada.
Driven by his passion for filmmaking, Jebin established JB Creations, a platform for producing captivating short films and albums that resonate with audiences on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. His creations, including “Palakkaran” and “Made in Heaven,” have captivated viewers and earned Jebin a reputation as a visionary storyteller.
Family’s legacy in sports
Inspired by his family’s legacy in sports – with his father, Benny Joseph, a former Kerala volleyball captain, and his great uncle, late Sebastian (fondly known as Illam Sir), an esteemed volleyball coach – Jebin inherited a love for cricket and football, becoming a proficient wicketkeeper-batsman.
Personal life
Amidst his professional pursuits, Jebin found love and companionship with Sumin Shaju, embarking on a new chapter in his personal life.
Jebin admiration for sports icons like MS Dhoni and Cristiano Ronaldo further fueled his passion for athletics. Despite his busy schedule, Jebin continues to pursue his passion for sports, representing the Halifax eagle’s cricket team and showcasing his athletic prowess on the field.
Creative portfolio
In addition to his filmmaking endeavors, Jebin expanded his creative portfolio by launching JB Creation Studio, offering event management, videography, and photography services to the Halifax community. His commitment to excellence and innovation has made him a trusted name among Malayalis in Canada, with his YouTube channel serving as a hub for engaging content and viral videos.
