Canadian Malayali Health Initiatives (CMHI) extends a warm invitation to all Malayalees in Ontario to participate in the CIBC Run for the Cure. This annual event is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research and support. The event will be held on Sunday, October 1st, 2023, at the CAA Centre, 7575 Kennedy Rd S, Brampton. Registration opens at 8 a.m., with the 5K and 1K runs commencing at 10 a.m.

Since its inception in 1992, the CIBC Run for the Cure has been an extraordinary journey. A small group of volunteers initially gathered in Toronto’s High Park with a clear mission – to raise awareness and funds for the breast cancer cause. In that inaugural event, they brought together 1,500 people and raised $85,000. This momentous occasion marked the birth of the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure, now recognized as Canada’s largest single-day, volunteer-led event dedicated to supporting breast cancer research and awareness.

In 1997, a pioneering partnership was forged between the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) and CIBC, setting the stage for the event’s continued success. On February 1, 2017, CBCF and the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) united under the CCS banner, solidifying their shared commitment to the breast cancer cause.

The CIBC Run for the Cure is more than just a fundraising event; it embodies the spirit of unity and hope for those impacted by breast cancer. Canadians from all walks of life come together on this day to stand in solidarity with breast cancer survivors, remember those lost, and demonstrate unwavering support for ongoing research and support services.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian women, affecting numerous families every day. The funds raised through the CIBC Run for the Cure empower CCS, the largest charitable funder of breast cancer research in Canada. These critical dollars fuel groundbreaking breast cancer research, provide compassionate support services, disseminate trusted cancer information, and advocate on behalf of all Canadians.

Canadian Malayali Health Initiatives (CMHI) is an organization dedicated to promoting a healthier community for Malayalees in Canada. They achieve this by organizing awareness programs, advocating for equitable healthcare access, and contributing to evidence-based interventions and policies to improve Malayali health. CMHI firmly believes in community engagement through focused education, workshops, and support networks.

All Malayali associations, other Malayali organizations, and media organizations in Ontario are supporting Canadian Malayali Health Initiatives for this event.

Join us in this meaningful event, and together, let’s run towards a future without breast cancer. For more information and to register, visit CIBC Run for the Cure Registration Form.https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdbgGntKwUjXcFQgHxQ2ndrhAYVE3GTd3axRWLozxyPZmQ5ZQ/viewform
