Step into the captivating world of Arathi Venugopal, a remarkable artist whose passion for dance has taken her on an extraordinary journey. Born and raised in the enchanting city of Kottayam, Arathi’s love for the arts blossomed from an early age.
Arathi’s parents, Shobha Venugopal and Venugopal, along with her elder sister Sharanya Venugopal, have been her pillars of strength, blessing her endeavors with unwavering support and love. With their encouragement, Arathi pursued her education at Good Shepherd Kottayam and later obtained a B.Pharm degree from Amirth College of Medical Sciences.
Arathi’s journey into the world of dance began at the tender age of three under the guidance of RLV Pradeep Kumar, a revered dance maestro. Over the years, she mastered various classical Indian dance forms, including Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, and Kathakali.
During her high school years, Arathi’s exceptional talent shone through as she emerged as the winner of the Kuchipudi first prize at the CBSE State Festival Meet. Her dedication to the arts continued to flourish as she actively participated in renowned programs like the Pannichikkad Dhashara Festival. Alongside her dance pursuits, Arathi also honed her skills in classical music under the guidance of her music teacher, Mandhagi Sthaya Murthi.
Arathi’s artistry and grace were showcased on notable platforms, including the “Harivarasam – Asha Sarath” program on Asianet, where she mesmerized audiences with her dance alongside Asha Sarath. She also claimed first prizes for Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam, and Kuchipudi at the esteemed Amritholsavam and Kalathilakam competitions. Her versatility and adaptability were further recognized in the All Kerala Pharma College Festival and the All Kerala Online Kalazham, where she excelled even amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021, Arathi embarked on a new chapter in her life, moving to Canada to pursue studies in pharmaceutical food science and project management at Durham College in Oshawa. Despite initial hurdles in finding connections and part-time jobs, her determination led her to excel in QA and QC roles in the food industry.
Arathi’s talent transcended borders when she participated in the online dance program “Let’s Dance America” on Flowers TV. Alongside renowned artists Asha Sharath, Lakshmi Gopalaswami, and Biju Dhwani Tharag, Arathi and her group reached the semi-finals and now aspire to compete in the final stage in the United States.
Beyond her accomplishments in dance, Arathi also delved into acting, leaving her mark with a notable performance in the short film “Influence” in 2020. Eager to explore further acting opportunities and portray meaningful characters, she envisions making a lasting impact in the world of cinema.
Arathi’s dreams extend beyond her personal achievements. She aspires to establish a dance school, nurturing aspiring talents and building a vibrant dance community. With the support and love she receives from her family, followers, and the Canadian Malayali community, Arathi is determined to make a difference in the world of art and entertainment.
